Wordpress UX And UI Basics - BrainMobi

The terms UI and UX are used interchangeably far too much by mobile app development companies and web development companies. But in reality, both of the terms are pretty different. They are related, but they are certainly not the same.
A good understanding of UI and UX would not only help you make better websites, but would also help you become a better WordPress developer.

To understand the difference between UI and UX, let’s look at what they are:

User Experience (UX):

According to Wikipedia, the definition of UX is:

“User Experience refers to a person's emotions and attitudes about using a particular product, system or service. It includes the practical, experiential, affective, meaningful and valuable aspects of human–computer interaction and product ownership”
The key aspects one must consider while designing the UX include the ease of use of your website, and how happy your users are when they interact with your site. When you consider these aspects, you can design the UX better.
To create the best UX, you need to have a good understanding of your users. If you don’t know what they like or dislike, it would be really difficult for you to create the right experience for them which they would enjoy. Knowing your users would also help you understand how you can align your user’s needs with your business objectives efficiently.
However this is harder than it sounds. It requires you to test and refine the whole site down to the slightest details continually until you and your users are completely satisfied with the website. Difficult as it may be, the process of developing the right UX is quite a rewarding one.
UX matters a lot for WordPress developers since in this highly digital world, users don’t spend any more than a few seconds to decide whether they would like to stay on your website or not once they land on your website. Everyone wishes to save time to be more productive, and if your website takes a lot of time to load and use, users would definitely abandon your website. A clear, organized, and easy to use website would contribute largely to the success of your website and your business.

User Interface (UI):

Now that we’ve discussed UX, it is time for UI. According to Wikipedia, the definition of UI is:

“The user interface, in the industrial design field of human–computer interaction, is the space where interactions between humans and machines occur”
The key aspects one must consider while designing the UI include the looks of your website including the color scheme, the various elements used on the website, as well other physical and technical elements which help the user interact with the website.
UI designers have to design the layout of the website to convert the UX design into a visual form. They create icons, typography, and many other interactive elements which solve problems in direct interaction which are faced by the users. In addition to that, UI designers ensure that all the technical elements appearing on the website are consistent throughout the website.
UI matters for the Wordpress developers since a good UI can help the website reach the pinnacle of success. A bad UI, on the other hand, can be hazardous for the website. Users want the websites to be clean, clear, intuitive, and organized, and it is UI which ensures that that happens.
